Hi,

I have a general question, possibly only exhibiting my ignorance:

On my desktop, I have no problems running applications with several
different graphics toolkits side-by-side, eg. Qt and GTK and Swing
applications. Unfortunately, most of these require that a whole
infrastructure be fired up, that makes at least half of all
applications start up as slow as molasses.

I'm a bit wary that replicating this situation on a small phone (eg.
the FreeRunner) will very quickly drain the battery as well as exhaust
the very limited amount of memory in these devices.

What's the current wisdom about how the user (eg. I) can deal with this
problem?

TIA!

Kind regards,
