Hi Nick! I got the same problem several times. I was sent a SMS as the FR was suspended, it lighted on (but no ringing/virbrating signal as it should do), I actived it and checked the message but no message was in the inbox. I aslso tried to put my SIM card in my Nokia but I didn't get the message (with the same previous test, I was getting the sms). And finally, I tried to get this message, in vain, with ompid-cli. Did you try that? Maybe will this work with your 4 part sms?
