You at least need to unzip and untar the rootfs tarball. In other
words, instead of doing something like
# cp ~/Downloads/full-om-gta01.tar.gz /mnt/
(where /mnt is the USB card)
you need:
# cd /mnt
# tar zxvf ~/Downloads/full-om-gta01.tar.gz
(and then make sure to do "umount /mnt", and wait for that to complete,
before removing the USB reader).
I don't know if further steps are needed with depmod and modules - I
expect Martin will cover those if needed.
