Many thanks, that does the trick.
(For anyone else: this means commenting out the EmulateRightButton
option in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.)
Now, once I have some icons on the Elfe pages: I've read somewhere that
they can't (yet) be deleted. But can they be moved around?

Yes, swiping is working now too.
