The site still works quite well as it used to, although the project is long dead and hasn't been developed further. You can find it under http://shr-project.org/, but for the Nexus S there are no installation instructions, it is listed under "current" supported devices however.
To download SHR go to http://build.shr-project.org/ The direct link for a Nexus S SD image ist here: http://build.shr-project.org/shr-2012.07/images/crespo/shr-image-crespo.tar.gz (untar with --numeric-owner option) And for an internal memory the image is here: http://build.shr-project.org/shr-2012.07/images/crespo/shr-image-crespo.ext2 I cannot provide you further support, but I hope these links help you to start exploring SHR once again.
