You'd better wait for a release. 1.39 gonna have GUI removed, i.e. will be pure console app.
That means when you start it, it'll open console window. Which may look ugly for some windows people. But it looks nice for unix people. There is a patch exist (in the examples) that can make SHTTPD a windows service, I am thinking about applying it to the source before releasing 1.39.
