Hey, Apart from what Roberto has said above (some ABINIT pseudopotentials give ghost states when run with SIESTA, the ones listed in red color on that page), this may arise if you have used semi-core states in generating your pseudopotential. You may want to define that explicitly in your .fdf input file using the PAO.Basis block.
