Changes to APNIC IPv4 maximum delegation size and IPv4 Recovered Pool
waiting list
________________________________________________________________________

The APNIC Executive Council (EC) today announced an interim arrangement
for IPv4 delegations from 103/8, as of Thursday, 28 February at
12:00 (UTC +9), to immediately reduce the maximum delegation size from
/22 to /23.

TheĀ interim arrangement is in response to the approval of
prop-127: "Change maximum delegation size of 103/8 IPv4 address pool to
a /23" at APNIC 47 in Daejeon, Korea.

Prop-127 was submitted to the Policy SIG mailing list on 18 January 2019
and was discussed during the Policy SIG meeting at APNIC 47. The
proposal was approved by the Policy SIG and again during the APNIC AGM
held today.

Prop-127 will now enter a comment period lasting four weeks before it
can be submitted to the APNIC EC for endorsement as an APNIC policy.

During this period, any IPv4 request for a /22 received after 28
February 2019 at 12:00 (UTC +9) will be processed according to prop-127,
to a maximum of a /23. However, an additional /23 will be reserved for
requests that qualify for a /22 under existing policy.

If prop-127 is rejected at the end of the comment period, APNIC will
delegate the reserved /23s to applicants who qualified for a /22. If
prop-127 is endorsed by the APNIC EC (and becomes APNIC policy), the
reserved address space will be made available for allocation to other
applicants.

In addition, prop-129: "Abolish waiting list for unmet IPv4 requests"
reached community consensus at APNIC 47. APNIC will still accept new
requests to the waiting list during the call for comment period,
however, waiting list applicants should be aware that those requests may
not be met if the proposal is endorsed and becomes APNIC policy.
