Hmm... I've had that same delay when my system gets to sendmail. Each
time it happened to me, it was because sendmail couldn't do a DNS lookup
on my hostname. So, if you're not using sendmail, you could just turn it
off. Other than that, you might check any files in /etc that are DNS
related, though I'm not sure exactly which one would allow you to fix the
problem.
