hi guys,
i'm working on a little brainstorm idea concerning
lots of little wav files that i need to join together
in on large file and play. now, which wavs are chosen
and why are where the fun is, but i'm having some
trouble with the basic method for joining these
things.
i'm using esdplay to play them, esdplay is basically
just an audio player that uses the Esound server.
anyway, when i esdplay blah.wav i get the wav file
then a little jolt of static at the end, this static
is not present when the file is played in my win
sound editor. so i'm trying to truncate a little
off the end of the files to prevent esdplay from
barfing on the endings, before i join them all
together. so far i've tried using Perl to
stat the file, and based on it's size truncate
the file to 99% of it's original size; this leaves
the file totally useless and unplayable.
i've been told it has to deal with wav needing a trailing
frame counter to play.
if anyone has any ideas i'd really appreciate them.
my next idea is to convert all these little wav files into
mp3 files because i know nothing needs a trailing counter
of sort when playing mp3 files....???
