Since I serve my own webpages, I usually glance at apache's access.log
to see who's reading what. Last night, though, I noticed something
interesting:
beyette2.ececs.uc.edu - - [03/Mar/1999:02:02:08 -0600] "GET http://www.s3.com
HTTP/1.1" 200 3343
What is this? Unless I'm misreading this, it looks like my server
handled a request to www.s3.com, which I don't understand. Or, is
something else the cause?

REAL criminal reports.
The Belgium news agency, Belga, reported in November that a man
suspected of robbing a jewelry store in Liege said he couldn't have
done it, "because he was busy breaking into a school at the same
time." Police then arrested him for breaking into the school.
