I am running redhat 5.1 with a serial port intellimouse. I have it configured as a two button microsoft compatible mouse. When I start X windows it sometimes works, and sometimes does not. When it is not working, pressing CTRL-ALT-F1 and then CTRL-C gets me out of X. When I restart X from the prompt the mouse works fine. I have no IRQ conflicts in /proc/interrupts. Choosing the Intellimouse option 9 from xf86config does not help. In that case the mouse does not work at all.
