QNX has been around for years (mid to late 80's) and was originally
developed to run on Intel 8086/8088 hardware.  The older versions were set
up for arcnet networking right out of the box.  AFAIK, QNX was the first
to have a networked parallel make, albeit for an 8-bit compiler.
