Okay, ssh wasn't too bad, so I installed fetchmail and then sendmail and fetchmail works fine and sticks my mail in /var/spool/mqueue like it is supposed to. (Each email file is owned by root and only root can rw.) When I run sendmail -v -bi as suggested in the docs to test the config it complains about my hostname. (b/c I prefer my current hostname to the assigned one which would be resnet-44-227) this has never been a problem before. But it does start fine when I run the script in /etc/rc.d/init.d. *anyways* I don't know if that matters b/c like I said before, all of my mail goes to the right place. But where do I go from there? How do I get, say, pine to read it? Or Netscape? Or anything? (Oh btw, it turns out mail.utexas.edu is an imap server too which works fine w/ netscape. is that encrypted/secure?) Thanks. oh, and I copied one of the generic sendmail.cf's to my /etc folder. Sendmail -v -bi said the sendmail.cf RH 5.2 put there is incompatible w/ the latest sendmail. Well, not incompatible but not recommended or something like that. Thx. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send administrative requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
