  It's a different philosophy.  Instead of the large network that Linux
fosters FreeBSD pushes for a small core team that does everything so that
there is a stable operating system to use.  Linux is really more of a
community where everyone does their part.  I've heard that it is a lot
harder to actually have a contribution included than with Linux. I've never
submitted to either so don't listen to me :)

  FreeBSD has such a cool mascot.  Come on, who actually thinks your chubby
little penguin can take my bad ass little daemon?  When it comes right down
to it, is there really anything else that matters?
