... a sad tale of woe. Has anyone had any success using RedHat 5.2 (as configured out of the box, with a pam-enabled login which uses pam_pwdb.so for authentication) to authenticate NIS users for which the passwd map is shadowed using passwd.adjunct? As usual, I can't even fathom that no one has run into this before, since many Sun/Solaris servers use passwd.adjunct files to help protect from crack attacks. I did a search on DejaNews and found one article claiming that pam_pwdb.so is not ready for prime time and can't even authenticate shadowed passwords: strings /lib/libpwdb.so | grep '\(shadow\.byname\|passwd\.adjunct\)' |wc -l returns 0 If this is the case, I have to wonder why RedHat uses pam_pwdb.so by default... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send administrative requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
