talk-ing to virtual terminals

anybody know how to initiate talk with another users virtual terminal,
ie an aterm window?  i read the man page for talk but i cant figure out
the syntax for naming the virtual terminal . . . any help, especially
w/an example or two, would be greatly appreciated!
