I've just noticed that many devices set to be owned by whoever is logged in (from the first virtual console or through xdm) and the permissions are mostly set to 600. Does anybody have any idea why or how to stop it from doing this? I noticed when my girlfriend had a gnome session and I tried to run ripit.pl in an xterm as myself. I wasn't allowed to access the cdrom.
