guys in the next couple of days I'm going to be buying a laptop, probably
a sony VAIO.. the two choices I'm looking at now are the 505, a very
small, slim model with a 10.4" screen, 300Mhz, 64mb ram, 6.4GB drive,
etc.. etc.. orrr a larger, still slim model with similar stats but a
bigger screen, included ethernet, and several other nice options, the
difference is about $500.. it's also only about $130 to upgrade from 64 to
128mb of ram.. does anyone have experience with this more expensive VAIO?
I forget exactly what model it is, there's a Z in there somewhere ;p I'm
most concerned with being sure the ethernet and modem work in linux,
espescially the ethernet because I'm not buying a cdrom for it right away
and will be installing linux via FTP..
if any of you guys know of another really good deal on a $2000-$2500 or
even less notebook for linux, I'd be glad to hear it.. I wanted something
that was not too bulky, but I'm not insistent on an ultrathin, I just
really want one :)
