Really?  I was there for a good long time and didn't see anything of the
sort.  Occasional talks by ACM and whatnot, but classes?

UT CS isn't really into teaching languages, they teach the concepts and
you have to learn the stuff on your own.  Look into the CS105 courses
for individual languages, but you won't see Perl.  You'll probably have
to teach yourself.

I highly recommend A Practical Guide to Linux by Mark G. Sobell.  Here's
