This is sort of off-topic, but I would like some help... A friend and I
are getting an apartment on West Campus for next semester, and we would
like to get a fast connection. We're considering either ADSL or
Cablemodems... So far, it seems that Cablemodems are a bit cheaper, but
the usage policy is not as good (looking at jump.net's policy for ADSL and
Warner's policy for RR), and the speed is more reliable with ADSL. What do
you think? I've also heard other bad things about RR (like having to
relogin every ten minutes or something). We both have a computer (he has a
Windows box, I've got RedHat), but I think I can set it up so that we can
network our two computers together and access the net at the same time
through one IP. Could I do this with IP masquerading? I'm not too good
with network stuff, since I've never really dealt with them before. (Good
old 56K modem has been it for me.)
Thank you for any help,
MZhang
