Actually.. that's incorrect. If you have linux or any other operating
system on the laptop, you do not void the warranty or service and support
on the laptop hardware. I know first hand.. ( I used to work for dell and
still have many friends inside which I asked the question just the other
day. ) I worked as a Level 2 technician, one of those behind the scenes
and I knowDell will support the hardware even if you don't have an OS
installed at all on the computer. They may not be able to support linux
as of yet (wait about six months and see) but they will support the
hardware. If you ever run into a tech on the phone that refuses, ask to
talk to their Group Leader. If that doesn't work, the manager will always
make sure you are helped to your content.
