Not officially supporting Linux b/c they don't have the expertise
to do so, or are simply not confident about their ability to do
so is one thing. Making a point of refusing service based on the
fact that someone chooses to run Linux, or refusing to even
_attempt_ to help (without any guarantees) is quite another.
I've encountered it this attitude before, and as far as I'm
concerned, vendors that display this type of rigid refusal to
even acknowledge the fact that there are alternatives out there
can go f@#k themselves. In my opinion, supporting this company
would be a dis-service to the Linux community. We can't allow
vendors to get away with having the mindset that there is only
one OS worth considering (unless it's Linux :@).
Also, there is at least one other sources of affordable DSL
service in Austin, that I've heard about on this list. And Time
Warner/Road Runner might not be complete angels, but if I'm
having trouble with something they don't hang up the phone or
demand their cable modem back just because I tell them my machine
runs Linux! Jesus f@#k@^g Christ, what nerve!
Bear in mind that I do not consider myself a Linux bigot,
although I prefer to use it for just about everything. I also do
not tolerate anything-else-bigots, especially those dedicated to
Winblows.
