well, since I had this problem the second time, I guess I'll ask around to see if anyone has any thought. I am using XFree 3.3.4, with Gnome+Enlightenment and the applications I am running during the crash is GnomeICU, 2*setiathome (2 instances). one simple applet I wrote to display CPU tempeture using LM_Sensors as backbone, x11amp (or realplayer, I can't remember). when the crash happened, everything in X stopped, include the clock, the cpumem load applet, even the music (from x11amp and real). both mouse and keyboard did not react. however, I can telnet into the box. but when I tried to shut down the box after I telneted in, it displayed the "shutting down for reboot", then give me back the prompt without shuting it down..and the internal speaker starts beeping (a consistant 1 tone sound)...is there anyway I can tell what's hanging the X, and why the speaker went off thanks ~ Experience the power of the Penguin 'v' _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ // \\ _/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/ /( )\ _/ _/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/ _/_/ ^`~'^ _/_/_/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ _/_/_/_/ _/ _/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send administrative requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
