I think I've been misunderstood. :)
I run slack 4.0 with the very latest stable kernel.  I don't know what the 
hell could be causing these version conflicts or whatever, but I am 
positive that i run a libc6 system.  If anyone else out there can help me, 
please let me know....I can give you the full output of my 'make' and any 
other pertinent information.
