So I was driving down the road tonight, and I heard a commercial talking
about a Windows 2000 release event in Austin. The ad it self wasn't very
useful, other then to point out the existence of an event. After a
little searching, Austin360/citysearch don't seem to have anything on it,
I found that there was some content on Microsoft's web-page, specifically
that they had information/times/locations of the events (across 60 cities
no less). The urls are below:

General W2K Event Info:
http://events.microsoft.com/isapi/events/event.asp?s=688034

Austin W2K Event Info:

The point of all of this is that I believe there should be a reasonable
contingent of local Linux zealot's on-hand to pass-out Linux software,
Debian, SuSE, RH, etc. The goal is *not* to say that Win2K sucks, or
to otherwise be disruptive; it is simply to put a copy of an alternative
in the hands of what are likely soon to be disappointed Win2K users.

If people are interested in participating in the respectful distribution
of software during the Win2K event; some rapid organization will need
to happen. I am more then willing to work in that direction, I am also
willing to let someone with some experience / time / interest do so. I'm
much more interested in seeing something happen then fighting over who
is running the show.

At least initially, if you have interest, please send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED],
I am not a member of any of the lists found in the To: handle and wont
see any responses -- and more so I don't want to be terribly disruptive to
any of the lists.
