hi,
i was looking at IDE RAID solutions (mainly ones from Promise). My goal is
not to create a RAID drive in the traditional sense, i.e., a powerful disk
array that will serve up lots of files to lots of people. For that SCSI
seems the only way to go. Rather, i'd like a personal array that will
service me only. i'd use it on an intranet of just a few (like 3 to 5) PCs,
and I'd like performance better than a stand alone drive, but the primary
reason for the RAID is to have the ability to consolidate many disks under
what will appear as one file system (like one drive letter in the wintel
world or one mount point in the unix world).
any suggestions or thoughts to this affect?
thanks,
GT
