I don't have a slackware system and my redhat doesn't have comsat
installed, so I can't double check this, but...
Running 'biff n' in your terminal should turn off the notification for
that session. If you want to disable it always for your system, comment
out the "comsat" line in /etc/inetd.conf and send your inetd a kill -HUP.
