I bought the O'Reilly book _UNIX Power Tools_ the other
day and found something strange. The included CDROM wouldn't
install on my machine. I was able to determine that it was
a problem with the perl binary included that ran the install
scripts. I solved the problem by copying the cdrom to
the hard drive and replacing their perl binary with mine.
Everything worked fine then.
So I would like to know why this happened. I don't think
O'Reilly would distribute a bad binary with their book.
I'm running RH 6.0 -- could there be problems with
libraries or something? Running the bad binary core
dumped with a segfault. I got no other error messages.
Any ideas?
