They're hardly crap. They're solid performers and *everything* works
with them, new and old.

For Linux, you get Glide support which will help with games like
Unreal Tournament. I believe you also get OpenGL for everything else.
(I have a Voodoo^3 card in my linux box, but haven't gone to the
trouble of getting 3d working yet. Yet.)

Yes, there are better cards out there. The Voodoo^3's lack of 32bit
color in 3d mode is unfortunate, but it's not that big of a deal.
This is fixed in the Voodoo^5, which is *still* compatible with
every 3d game ever made.

(Though if you're going to spend the $300 for a V^5 you should just
get a GeForce2 - you'll get better performance, but will give up
Glide, so some really old games may not work. Games you probably
won't play anyways. But if you must, find a used Voodoo^2 card and
slap it in there with the Geforce2.)

I think OfficeMax has Voodoo^3 cards for $60 after rebate this week.
Great price for a good card.

TNT2 Ultras are good cards too. Performance and price (if you get a
generic) is similar to a a Voodoo^3, as long as you don't use the
32bit color (they support it, but it'll slow things down.) But you
also lose Glide ...
