I'm considering buying a laptop. Of course, it will run Linux and
nothing else. :)
Anyhow, I was curious about Linux on laptops. Specifically, how well
supported is it? I know about the various Linux laptop websites, but
I'd like to avoid doing my laptop shopping online since I want to play
before I buy. I remember a few years ago that Linux laptop support was
bad, but how is it now? Can I reasonably expect to walk into a store,
pick out a laptop and load Linux onto it without problems? If that
isn't possible then I'd like to know, as I shop, whether the model
which I'm looking at is Linux-friendly; are there any good local
computer shops which offer competitive prices and Linux-friendly
laptops? And, as a last resort, can anyone point me to any online
Linux-friendly merchants? I glanced over valinux.com thinking that
they'd have laptops, but I only recall seeing servers and such.
