I realize this topic comes up at least once every few months here, and
I'm loathed to bring it up again, but I'd really appreciate some
opinions. I've been digging around on various job search engines and
looking at the info and URLs in the list archives, but I thought I'd
toss out a few questions here and hope for some advice.

I'm looking for a part-time (20-30 hours/week) GNU/open
source-friendly job. I've worked with Linux as my desktop OS since '95
or so, so I have plenty of experience with Linux, but very little with
other Unix-like OS's. Anyhow, lots of the various system
administration jobs seem to require experience with several Unix
variants, which I don't have.

I've become extremely frustrated with my most recent job during the
past few weeks and am considering leaving (The company is still
searching for investment, decisions are made about who to pay each
month, etc.) As previously stated, I've looked at various job search
engines, but most seem to be targeted at full-time workers. Since
I won't be graduating for another year, I'm not able to pursue
something full-time yet. And, most of the descriptions describe the
job itself while ignoring the work environment; since I'm a very big
fan of free software/open source, I definitely don't want to be
stuffed into some office building and expected to hold together a
clump of limping NT boxes. :) I'm also an English major with lots of
writing experience, so a technical writing position would be great
too.

Anyhow, I'm sorry if I've created the impression of someone who's just
tossing out qualifications and hoping for responses. I'm just a bit
disheartened by all of the jobs which I think I'd enjoy, if only I had
at least 200 years of experience with Linux, FreeBSD, AIX, every
version if windows since 3.11, etc. :) While I've been advised to take
some of these requirements with a grain of salt, I consider myself a
fast learner, and it'd be great if I could locate a great entry-level
position, working with enthusiastic and cool people. Can anyone offer
any recommendations?

Thanks.
