That's Free As In 'Libre'
Open Source 101
By now, probably everyone's heard of Linux and probably also the
term 'Open Source'. On Monday, March 12th on the Day Stage of the Film/
Interactive Trade Show, five prominent members of the Open Source and
Linux communities will introduce us to the Open Source philosopy and
some of the reasoning behind it, then move on to discuss why and how
Open development is revolutionizing large segments of the technology
industries and what this may mean for the future.
Later that evening, SXSW Film Festival is proud to host the premiere
of "Revolution OS", J.T.S. Moore's feature-length documentary which tells
some of the intriguing stories behind the Open Source revolution and how
it came to be.
Monday March 12, Trade Show Day Stage
- Don Marti - technical editor, Linux Journal
- Chris DiBona - VA Linux Systems
- Brian Behlendorf - Apache Software Foundation
- Ean Shuessler - Software in the Public Interest
- Monty Montgomery - Xiph.org/Ogg Vorbis
"Revolution OS" premiere: 8:00pm, Austin Convention Center
