For the benifit of the list (which has been good to me)
I wrote, in part;

++ mount -t vfat hda1 (etc) mounts the c: partition
++ thankyouverymuch
++ mount -t vfat hda2 (etc) chokes
++ What am i missing?

Off list , i replied;
Bingo! fdisk -l (hey, it's french...) =>
hda1 <start...end...blocks> id<c> sys<win95fat32>
hda2 <start...end...blocks> id<f sys<win95Ext'd> bingo
hda5 <start...end...blocks> id<d> sys<win95fat32>
Tried mounting hda*5* (instead of the hda2, i got from dmesg), and
Voila! Now i'm one fstab edit away from Lin/Win boxes w/ a common
partition.
Thanks, Paul (and thanks list)! pkl
