well, I just tried to re-do the image with -v flag.  Here is what I got.
I'll calculate these number later..

Total translation table size: 0
Total rockridge attributes bytes: 323570
Total directory bytes: 919552
Path table size(bytes): 4276
Max brk space used 1c87a4
305073 extents written (595 Mb)

The interesting thing is, the original CD is the one that's bigger.

The mounting through loop device problem..well, I am at 2.4.3, which I doubt
will still have that kind of funny bug..
