Thanks Doc. It is about time I groked xargs. And thanks for the pointer to that book. Finding the time and $$ to buy it are another difficult task.
Meantime, can anyone out there tell me how to address the cdrom drive on an ibook. E.g. I want to do somethign like ...
cp foo.text <cdrom>
...what is the value for <cdrom>. Sure perhaps there is probably some graphical way to do this, but why succumb to feeping creaturism? Give me back my command line, please. (especially when I want to move > 5000 files).
Try "/Volumes/NO\ NAME". If the CD has a volume label it'll be "/Volumes/<label>".
Be warned that I have yet to find a way to mount or eject a CD that has been unmounted from the command line.
