Has anybody ever installed and used the Familiar linux Distribution in a
PDA.?

I have been trying to do so in my IPAQ H3650 based on howtos in
www.handhelds.org

&

familiar.handhelds.org

I succeeded in loading the basic bootloader image, overwriting the FLASH
from WINCE to the basic linux kernel and drivers/shell et-cetera package
using minicom and a serial line from my regular GNU box. However, my CF
wireless card (Zonet CF1100) was not detected by the kernel at all
(although the pcmcia modules are loaded, as I saw in the output of
"lsmod"). I tried to load up many generic drivers (the aironet ones) but
none worked and sent some rather intimidating error messages to "dmesg".
Needless to say, "iwconfig" still gives nothing.

The handhelds.org website lists CF cards that have been reported to work
with familiar, but I'm afraid of dishing out green for an extra CF card
(They're BLOODY expensive!) only to see it zonk out in linux. Has
anybody succeeded in getting a CF card to work using Familiar Linux in
an IPAQ? If so, do be a good chap and let us all know.
