Er, What's an HBA? My SCSI hard disk is a Seagate Cheetah ST336607LW (10000 RPM, 4.7 ms seek time). My SCSI adapter is an SIIG AP-20 adapter in a 32 bit PCI slot in my horsecrap Intel Thrasher mobo (I'm stuck with this piece of turd mobo bcoz my case technology is proprietary and standard ASUS mobos don't fit :-( ). The Adapter is 50-pin. My HD is 68 pin. I have a 68-50 pin adapter connecting the hd to the ribbon cable. Also, the HD has no internal termination so I bought a terminator and attached it. The hd is properly grounded to the case and mounted on fat rubber washers to reduce noise. Its bracketed with Al/Cu heatpipe dissipators and is right above two 40 mm case fans and the smart diode usually reads an operating temp of 41-43 C, which seems well below the maximum operating temperature (rated in the manual at 55 C) . -- ----------- Analabha Roy Graduate Student Department Of Physics University Of Texas 1 University Station C1600 Austin TX 78712-0264 United States Emails: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Homepage: http://www.ph.utexas.edu/~daneel _______________________________________________ Siglinux mailing list [email protected] http://www.utacm.org:81/mailman/listinfo/siglinux
