That's my conclusion based on your first post as well. The error libusb 
reports (status 1, error -99) is generated only when part of the packet 
didn't make it in, i.e. the transfer was somehow interrupted or 
corrupted. At a higher debug level, libusb reports this as "interpreting 
short transfer as error".

Possibly there's something seriously wrong on your USB bus -- try 
reloading the low-level USB kernel module, or rebooting.

Alternatively, the fx2lafw firmware running on the fx2 is somehow not 
working. Can you tell us more about exactly which device you're running 
this on?
