I'm not quite sure what kind of problems you envision :)
As long as the decoder has the right license (GPL2+ or GPL3+) and
there are no IP rights violated, I don't see any issues. Can you
please post the patch somewhere so we can have a look?

Also, we always appreciate example data to test the decoder against,
