Peter,

The general rule of thumb when briefing lawyers is to be as specific as
possible: narrow the brief, so they don't burn your money trying to get
their heads around what it is you're trying to achieve. I've not used them
directly, but I've heard some good feedback about Jungle Management
(http://www.jungle.com.au/).

Terms of Use and Privacy Policies are fairly standard documents these days.
That being the case, you can probably safely look to one of the Tier 2 law
firms, and avoid the pricey hourly fees of the Tier 1 firms.

You should be able to get a few firms to give you some ballpark pricing
(they'll of course add the usual caveats around not being able to be
specific until they get full instructions etc.), but it should be enough to
help you get a feel for which firms offer good value etc.

Invest some of your own time up front documenting what you specifically want
each document to cover, and come up with some example scenarious to help
them understand your intent. I would make the time to review similar
documents from other organisations online, to get a feel for the types of
issues you need to address, so you can give your lawyer more specific
instructions.

Regards,

Mark

Subject: [SiliconBeach] Terms of Use -- Legal stuff... HOW?

Gday,

So I am looking for some info/help on putting together legal doco's like
Terms of Use and Privacy policy.

Our app uses/moves some important business data around so we want to make
sure we get this right from the get go.

Does anyone have a legal firm or whatever that they recommend???
Anyone gone through the process themselves? Any tips tricks??

We are a bit lost when it comes to doing all this so ANY info is greatly
appreciated!!

Cheers!
