Sssshhhhhhh! I was trying to keep the exception talent pool of 500+ comp sci
and IT grads a year coming out of UOW to myself ;-)

Seriously though, we're 45 mins from the airport (admittedly on a good day),
have great real estate options at great prices in a coastal setting. In
addition to the graduates, there are about 20K+ people a day who still choose
to live here and spend 20+ hours a week on trains to Sydney. A decent chunk of
those are people with skills people on this list are probably be looking for.

How much would you value getting 20+ hours more a week with your kids?

Anyway, just $0.02... without any disrespect to this valid introspection, I
think the only way we'll build a startup hub in Australia is to build the
startups that realise commercial value; this is the ultimate bottom up project,
and while we need some infrastructure (and a lack of government interference)
to make it easier to climb up this ladder, there's nothing quite like doing
it...

What about Wollongong? ;-)

Join people like Geoff McQueen from Hiive... http://www.hiivesystems.com/

We have a great new facility at the Innovation Campus...
http://www.innovationcampus.com.au/

And half way between Sydney AND Canberra. Have the best of both worlds
and great beaches too. That's why Accenture picked Wollongong:

"Accenture Australia recognised an innovative approach was required to
address ongoing local skill shortages, one that would ensure the
organisation would continue to be well positioned to meet client
requirements in building high-performing businesses. We recognised
that Wollongong, located on the picturesque south coast of NSW,
offered the ideal solution by providing access to a highly skilled
workforce. For several years, the University of Wollongong has taken a
leadership position in terms of developing talented information
technology (IT) professionals. Thus it seemed natural for Accenture to
access this pool of IT talent and establish a new facility that would
provide IT development and ongoing client support in Wollongong."
