It's just that some banks have better/worse footprints around the country, and
if you need to deposit old fashioned cheques, proximity of somewhere to drop
them off can matter.

Bankwest let you drop theirs off @ Commbank, so the footprint is good, and the
reason for asking which state you're in is that they've been trying to grow
aggressively in NSW (in business banking at least) so you tend to get pretty
good service, a dedicated account manager, even if you're small. We also got a
merchant account attached to our regular account with fees of only 1%, which
for our kind of transaction profile is great 1.2% less than ANZ would give us
(2.2%), and the rest were north of ANZ...

Mark,

I've been really impressed with Bankwest. We moved to them after being
continually screwed by CBA on fees, etc. Of course, CBA bought Bankwest in the
washup from the GFC, but from what I can tell they're being left to themselves
for the time being.

Geoff

PS - what state are you in?

Subject: [SiliconBeach] small business banking: recommendations?

Hi,
I've been looking around at banking services for small business and its just
about as hard as choosing a mobile phone contract (but thats another story).

Has anyone been down the path of choosing business banking services recently
and have some suggestions or tips they can pass on??

My requirements are quite basic.
        1. Low fees
        2. Easy to get an attached credit card (debit visa/master ok, if credit
card too hard)
        3. Not many transactions per month (less than 15).
        4. Anything that will help with tax stuff highly regarded.

Regards,
Mark Burch
