Hi all, I migrated to Melbourne from Finland a few weeks ago and am trying to get my bearings around the local startup-scene. This seems like one good place to do that.
My background is highly technical, but over the past years I've also drifted increasingly towards the "dark side" of business while also keeping a foot in the techie world. I have an MSc degree in Computer Science and went to the same university with Linus in the 1990's (and subsequently developed an affection for Linux and other *nixes). Work-wise, I have experience from a couple of successful startups and as an entrepreneur, though the past five years I spent at the other end of the spectrum at Nokia & Nokia Siemens Networks. Internet, mobile and mobile Internet services have been my focus area for the past 10 years. I'm basically looking for a job here in Melbourne and would ideally like to join a startup with a product / service that I can believe in. I have a experience from conducting VC rounds from North America and quite a bit experience from business model and business case analysis as well as from strategic planning, all of which might be useful for someone out there.
