Interesting article on Techcrunch Europe about the UK Government's
plans for post-Olympic London.

http://eu.techcrunch.com/2010/11/04/uk-government-plans-east-london-tech-cluster-startup-visa-review-of-ip-law-200-million-in-finance-what/

As well as proposing £200 million in development costs, they are also
looking at a £200 million investment fund along with changing their
visa and IP laws.

While history hasn't been kind to these schemes it's at least
encouraging the Brits are having a crack, I can't imagine an
Australian PM or Premier of either side making announcement for a
fraction of this.

I was happy with the $2 million the NSW Government put up for Digital
Sydney, so I guess small things keep us happy.
