I think lassoo is using mechanical turk or OCR to scan the actual catalogs for specials.

Thanks guys for your comments, actually Lasoo and shopbot are good
examples, so you reckon they are not using crawlers but rather getting
their price lists directly from the online dealers. Does anybody have
any experience in getting data directly from online retailers ? Like
for instance, how should I approach BigW to get their price list ?

Thanks,

Lasoo is very clever technology. I've searched for things to buy on

It's a shame they haven't done more with social media to boost their
profile.

Hi Ali

First good market to compete in, I was just looking at one website
that does the same thing you have planned. I think it waswww.shopbot.com.au

 (could be wrong).

How ever from a SEO background, see if you can develop a manual system where the user (consumer) puts in info of related products to compare.
Then reward them with points to achieve gifts on offer etc.

It will be a white hat linking techqiue.

Why I thought of that is, I bought a micorowave for $155, it was
displayed for $200 at Harvey Norman. Rang my wife to check the net if some other company were selling for a cheaper price; sure were, Kmart
$158. Told them BANG ! $155. If only I could of put that !!! Brain
storm! Sorry I think I am going to develop this new system, Cheers :)

Take care :)

Hi All,

I am working on a price comparison site and I am looking for price
vendors who deliver (sell) daily product prices from various online
stores (e.g., Woolworth, Coles, BigW, Wow1, etc.) Do you know any
company offering such a service in Australia ? Another option I have
is to write a crawler per shop which can be very time consuming. I
appreciate your experience in this regard.

Thanks,
