I had a similar experience to Andrew. After years of knocking MBA's and declaring I would not do one, I succumbed and enrolled in a Masters of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Swinburne University. I saw that program as a compromise! It was an interesting program, however due to a forced move to Brisbane, I ended up at QUT on their MBA program. I chose it because of its flexibility and opportunity to still focus on Entrepreneurship.
Despite the fact I now teaching on that program (declared interest!), I still believe that the strength and structure of an MBA with an entrepreneurship focus is a great blend. QUT does strive very had to blend reality with theory, including having people like me teach on the program as opposed to pure academics. We also endeavour where we can to get real live entrepreneurs in front of classes to share their experiences. >From a personal perspective I believe I make significantly better decisions today, with a more objective base, that I ever did previously. In short, the right MBA can make a significant difference to ones approach to business.
