The patent trolls, copyright shades (use of copyright to prevent re-use ...
now extended to patents
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/13/us/code-on-shell-casings-sparks-a-gun-debate.html?pagewanted=all)

and trademark banshee (nag long enough to change your logo) these are all
monsters one face on the path to becoming a true (Unix) Wizard.

Previously the only semi-effective spell against Patent trolls was
OpenSourcium, a defensive publishing tactic that put all your code except
for the magic trade-secret sauce out in the open so that prior art is
well-established. Now comes a new magical device from EFF and Berkeley
commune called Frienemy. Shaped in the unusual form of a bathtub, it claims
the magical property of being able to splash your enemies but not your
friends. The hope is that by cowering under this shield all the NPE trolls
will toss their submarine patents elsewhere and eventually run out of ammo.

Will this work against the IV vampires who are plaguing the mobile space?
Or is that friend really a competitor in disguise and you're going to be
poked in a sensitive spot in the crowded pool? Stay tuned for future news
from Hogwash

(apologies to Rowlings for mangling her works but couldn't resist the puns)
