Welcome aboard Dan! A little bit of news down here in Melbourne too. We have a new 3rd director, Sally Gattenby. She’s worked in a VC firm, now does marketing and comms and also is one of the founders of That Startup Show! https://www.youtube.com/user/TSUShow. She joins me, Matt Allen (Lookahead Search) and Sebastian von Conrad (Envato).
FI already has some results that we’re proud of including grads winning SydStart (twice!), one of our grads from the first Melbourne class won episode 2 of TSUS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_2X8cocKHk), and one of our female founders pitched at the Founder Showcase in Silicon Valley and won best startup in Asia pacific. Along with helping founders validate their idea in a pretty full-on environment, we also have our new fund that’s come online - http://www.expansive.vc/. You need to be an FI grad, mentor or director to start the conversation. It’s designed specifically to help FI graduate level startups and will have founder friendly terms. We’re running out of York Butter Factory this semester and next Monday (the 19th) will be an info session where we’ll have a few grads, and some people that didn’t make it to graduation come along so you can pepper them with questions. We’re aiming for a class of 30, and it’s already filling up fast. Demand seems to be far greater than it was last year.
