Hi everyone, Just wanted to share the news with the Aussie community first - we've just raised a $2 million round for AffinityLive. More details about the round and the investors on our blog <https://www.affinitylive.com/resources/blog/affinitylive-raises-2-million-funding-round/>. Since we've been bootstrapped (the good old Aussie way) since we started out three and a bit years ago (and had some crazy close calls <https://www.affinitylive.com/resources/blog/from-3-days-to-live-to-a-team-of-30-in-3-years-reflections-on-the-affinitylive-journey-so-far/>), I thought this could be a nice story for the other hard working bootstrappers out there to hear.
If you keep track of these sorts of things, your first response is probably "why only $2m?". Good question - it would be my first question too. I've learned a lot going through this process and thought it would be good to share some insights that could be helpful for other entrepreneurs going down the fundraising path; hope it is helpful: Why we raised a small round (and why you should be thinking about doing it too) <http://geoffmcqueen.com/2015/06/30/why-we-raised-a-small-round/>. If you're a Hackernews regular and you think the advice is worth sharing, feel free to give it an upvote <https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9807069>. Bootstrapping (which is how so many of us Aussie entrepreneurs have to do things) is harder and takes longer, to be sure, but the good news is that when you find product/market fit you've got a lot more options open to you - so if you're slogging away and envious/pissed at these other frothy startups raising big rounds for businesses that don't impress you at all, take heart and keep in grinding cause odds are you'll be in a better (or at least great) position when your time comes to turn up the dial. -- *Geoff McQueen* *Founder & CEO* __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ <http://www.affinitylive.com> Office: +1 800.425.7315 Cell: +1 650.450.4384 Skype: geoffmcqueen -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Silicon Beach Australia mailing list.
